Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
